The Mechanical Engineering Faculty is independent legal department of University of Niš. It was established at 1960. Faculty employs 50 research & teaching assistants, 10 research assistants, 8 assistant professors, 10 associate professors, 30 full professors and 42 of administrative staff and is recognized as one of the leading national research organizations, according to latest national science framework funding assessment results. Separate organizational structure is formed for the purpose of the research and development, which is performed in 6 accredited laboratories and 4 research departments, coordinated by the faculty institute office. Project activities will be performed by a group, employed in Laboratory for Intelligent Production Systems (LIPS). Group, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Miroslav Trajanoviæ, participated in number of national and international projects, deploying stateof- the-art collaboration solutions. Moreover, in last 2 years, LIPS was contracted to develop and implement collaboration solutions in number of other international projects, by organizations from Croatia, United States, Netherlands and Italy. All deployed solutions included integrated dissemination platforms (websites or web portals), multi-level access Extranets and content management systems.

Solutions are based on best collaboration practices, derived from a long experience in their implementation and include all associated services and assets, such as trainings and workshops for efficient and effective use, documentation, performance tracking, etc. All activities of collaboration systems implementation are executed on basis of internationally recognized standards and practices, such as ISO12207 and CMMI, ensuring the continuity of results above the horizon of planned project’s schedule.
